Job Ad & Profile Description

Position : Logistics Assistant



Logistic assistant provides technical and operational support in the areas of purchasing, warehousing, fuel management, AirOps in accordance with the ICRC’s logistics standards and local legislation


  • Internally, interacts with logistics department and with technical  reference persons at sub delegation.
  • Externally, develops and maintains working relationships with suppliers and other contacts relevant to their work.


  • Supply-chain management and planning (manages and follows up on requests, provides customer desk service and carries out related reporting).
  • Participation in purchases (petty cash) related to department activity.
  • Warehouse management.
  • Implementation and follow-up for financial and administrative procedures.
  • Fleet management.
  • AirOps.
  • Trains ICRC staff in logistics procedures.
  • Acts as a focal point for all Upstream Supply Requests (SRs) within the range of operations in Maiwut
  • Provides feedback to the requester on the status of upstream SRs.
  • Updates and closes files related to logistics activity.


  • Ensures that ground team physically present at the airstrip 30 minutes before plane arrival time.
  • Secures the airstrip for landing and takeoff.
  • Ensures crowd control during aircraft turnaround time is maintained.
  • Assists the pilots in loading, offloading of cargo and during fueling from drums.
  • Ensures that ground team to wait at the airstrip for at least 15 minutes after aircraft departure in case there will be return to land for technical reasons.
  • Ensures that AirOps recommendations and regulations applied

Stock/Warehouse Management

  • Ensures that goods are received, stored and dispatched according to procedure; immediately reports any problems or discrepancies.
  • Ensures that stock is rotated and picked according to the principles of first-in-first-out and/or first-expired-first-out.
  • Ensures that warehouse space is well utilized and makes recommendations for layout changes.
  • Ensures that goods are properly segregated within the warehouse.
  • Ensures that warehouse regulations are applied.
  • Ensures that there is proper pest control and hygiene in the warehouse.
  • Records information in the logistics IT system.
  • Ensures that bin cards and stock cards are kept up to date.
  • Provides statistics and other reporting.
  • Organizes inventory counts and initiates claim reports.

Order Management

  • Processes and fulfils clients’ orders according to the ICRC’s logistical and financial procedures and pre-established fulfilment guidelines.
  • Keeps service requesters regularly informed of the progress of their requests.
  • Records and files documents pertaining to the ordering process; registers and forwards claims and comments from service requesters.


Required profile for job ad : Logistics Assistant

Certifications/Education Required

  • Vocational high school / diploma in Logistics or any related field.
  • Very good command (spoken and written) of English or the local working language.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Driving licence.
  • Minimum 2-5 years' experience in a similar field.
