Position : Mechanic

We are looking for a Mechanic to join our team

FUNCTION DESCRIPTION

PURPOSE

The Mechanic carries out preventive maintenance and repairs on ICRC vehicles and other logistics equipment in accordance with guidelines from headquarters and manufacturers’ recommendations.

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internally, interacts with VFM, Dispatcher and logistics staff.
  • Externally, interacts with partners related to his work (spare parts suppliers, external workshop, fuel supplier(s), etc.).

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Understands and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Understands and adheres to the ICRC Code of Conduct
  • Understands the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Respects and observes staff regulations and security rules at all times
  • Represents the ICRC in a professional manner at all times
  • Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers
  • Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC
  • May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fleet

  • Provides support to MALAKAL for the existing fleet.
  • Ensures regular maintenance work to ICRC vehicles (including the vehicles of SDs) according to given instructions and workload plan (technical services) .
  • Performs weekly check and maintenance of the vehicles if required
  • Performs monthly control of equipment, tools, logbooks and ensures that all a/m are on board
  • Keeps maintenance records up to date in vehicle files
  • Ensures the entering of pertinent records in the Fleet Wave database
  • Organizes driving briefing and test for employees
  • Participates in selection and ordering of new vehicles/generators for MALAKAL and MAIWUT
  • Reports accidents with vehicles to F&A Manager for input in the Claim Database within 48 hours
  • Performs monthly control of equipment and tools
  • Ensures the management of spare parts: stock turnover and ordering
  • Organizes the stock inventory process
  • Performs minor repair works, which do not require a workshop, fills in job cards and stock cards, keeping them up to date (linked to Fleet Wave)
  • Keeps the storeroom and working tools clean

Generators

  • Checks running hours
  • Performs maintenance, repair works and regular services
  • Ensures the fuelling and cleaning generators when needed
  • Provides support to MAIWUT for the maintenance and service of existing generators

Reporting

  • Reports to the Log, provides with all means for reporting to LOG-Fleet
  • Ensures the Annual Inventory Process, supporting the LOG and publishing the Results in the TeamSpace
Required profile for job ad : Mechanic

Certifications/Education Required

  • Vocational high Diploma / Degree in  General Mechanics or any related field.
  • Very good command (spoken and written) of English or the local working language.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Driving licence.
  • Professional Experience Required
  • Minimum 5-10 years' experience in a similar field.
  • Good knowledge of wrking in a garage.
