• Provide trainings on small-scale irrigation, rural engineering works and other rural infrastructure, in close collaboration with the eco-regional coordinators and in accordance with GIZ-SLM standards • Provide trainings on small-scale irrigation, rural engineering works and other rural infrastructure, in close collaboration with the eco-regional coordinators and in accordance with GIZ-SLM standards • Support zonal and woreda experts in conducting feasibility studies including preliminary investigations, data collection and site identification for small-scale irrigation development and other rural engineering works • Advise zonal and woreda experts in design and preparation of technical documents of small-scale irrigation systems and other rural engineering works, including preparation of cost estimates • Provide support to zonal and woreda experts in assessing the performance of new and existing small-scale irrigation schemes and other rural engineering works within SLMP areas • Support zonal and woreda experts in the proper planning, layout and construction of rural infrastructure as per the guidelines provided in the CBPWDG (Community Based Participatory Watershed Development guideline) • Assist zonal and woreda experts in identifying constraints in implementation of small-scale infrastructure projects and other rural engineering works, and determine solutions for correction and prevention

• Undertake Identification of potential headwork sites and study and design possible, manageable and cost effective headwork structures • Responsible for preparation of alternative system layout and select cost effective one with respect to potential/available water (water balance) and land resources • Undertake feasibility study including preliminary investigations, data collection and site identification for potential irrigation development under the project • Carryout design of drainage and flood protection works related to irrigation system and Design and quantity for tendering. • Based on the site conditions, modify already prepared designs of irrigation systems to fit the existing situation; • Be responsible for preparation of Specifications and Tender Document • Supervise implementation of the designed projects and guide and give corrections where necessary; • Produce operation and maintenance plan/schedules for the system and prepare corresponding manual;

• Monitor compliance with approved work plans and appropriate engineering standards and methods for rural infrastructures and Soil and Water Conservation structures • Advise Woreda staff and the BoA on progress, constraints and any remedial measures that may be required to improve implementation of SWC measures at micro-watershed level; • Liaise closely with GIZ technical advisers, provide practical orientation and training to Woreda staff and community members in line with the Community Based Participatory Watershed Development Guidelines norms on good principles and practice in SWC and engineering

• Identify the water resource potential at Zone for irrigation development. • Conduct feasibility study in participating the community based on their need. • Prepare design documents as per organization guideline and organizing the document from different disciplines
