Experience: Oversaw the operations of New Zealand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade-funded Agriculture, Dairy and Economic Development and the Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato Projects in Emali (Kajiado and Makueni Counties of Kenya) Worked with local and international project partners to support selection of planting seeds and materials for pastures, fodder, moringa and orange fleshed sweet potatoes. Facilitated procurement of farming equipment to ensure that the production and distribution of produce, crop, or livestock complies with the government and environmental regulations. Developed ToRs for consultants and contractors who were hired in actualizing projects' activities. Established Moringa and dairy cooperatives and developed business plans for the two entities. Facilitated the selection, recruitment and supervising of staff to deliver on the project objectives. Facilitated development of individual farmers' business plans. Identified new agribusiness opportunities and farm income streams, mainly targeting women and youth through Moringa production and livestock development initiatives through working with Emali Dedicated Children’s Agency, Counties’ Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock; Ministry of Water and Irrigation, Departments of Trade, Industry, Tourism and Cooperatives, Kenya Agriculture Research and Livestock Organization, Kenya Forestry Research Institute and private enterprises. 

Experience hrough his work with EADD II, Mr. Mang’eni supported setting up and transformation of 40 milk collection centers in Kenya, 13 centers in Uganda, and two centers in Burundi into viable and sustainable producer organizations. Mr. Mang’eni is experienced in working with large dairy-processing plants that produce diverse dairy products that meet the Kenya Bureau of Standards and COMESA milk and milk products quality parameters. As the as Dairy Processing specialist with the Land O’Lakes Kenya Dairy Program, Mr. Mang’eni led a team of specialists/Business Development Service providers in implementing best practices for milk and milk products quality and handling, procurement, processing, and branding for co-operatives and medium dairy processing plants in Rift Valley and the Central and Eastern Provinces of Kenya. While working with Land O'Lakes and the Burundi Agribusiness Project funded by USAID, Burundi, Mr. Mang’eni was in a team that carried out the feasibility of milk collection centers (MCCs) for the Burundi Agribusiness Program (BAP). With the assistance of BAP, Mr. facilitated procurement of milk collection centers’ equipment and supervised the installation, launch, and training of two milk collection centers’ managers, operators, and dairy farmers.

Experience Recruited dairy processors for capacity building on dairy-related regulations, EAC/COMESA milk and dairy standards, food safety best practices, inspection and certification, laboratory analysis of milk and milk products quality and award of standards mark of quality. Mr. Mang’eni lead a team of consultants in implementing ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System for Meru Central Dairy Co-operative Union Led the development of the curriculum of the dairy industry players in Kenya (under custody of the Kenya Dairy Board) for industry stakeholders. Assisted small-scale processors in diversification of dairy products. Collaborated with United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID) and Analabs Ltd, to develop an external quality assurance monitoring system for dairy co-operatives and small and medium dairy processors who could not afford expensive laboratory equipment Linked a number of dairy processors and co-operatives to the Kenya Bureau of Standards for the express purpose of meeting the requisite standards at the plant and the products churned out by them.
